The Nokia’s latest flagship model N97

by White Shaarks on Jul.06, 2009, under Latest Web Technologies

The Nokia’s latest flagship model N97 is on the market long enough for us to draw some lines related to its features. First of all let’s pay attention to what it has to offer with the box that comes wrapped in: a phone case, a battery (BP-4L 1500mAh, charger and adapter, USB data cable, a kit of earphone-remote handsfree, Nokia Ovi Suite installer, warranty documents, and user’s manual, wipe cloth, and a detachable stylus).

After getting the unit out of its box you find the display covered with a sticker that has the “ovi.store.com” ad on it and you have to pay attention while removing as it is potential to take out the whole film that covers for protection the faceplate of the N97. It is only the Ovi sticker thing that you have to remove, not the whole protection film, so be careful! This model do not present a microSD memory card as the built-in 32GB memory proves to be enough; for those who need more space they can use the microSD slot and add up to 8GB of capacity on it.

n97The case is very tight, one has to put himself through a lot of trials to find an easy way to open it; after a while one can realize that actually pushing the bottom of the case will force the unit to go out. Maybe a higher-quality case would be better to judge. As to the cables it would have been preferred the standard 4-pin USB port instead of including the USB data cable which is more standard for a high-end phone.

The Nokia Ovi and Ovi store features are introduced to the user via a special booklet that is unfortunately more targeted to marketing than to the user’s guiding. Nokia included also a detachable stylus to be used in precision typing and writing, but it seems that is quite useless so long as the keyboard works pretty well. A thing that at first sight might seem minor is the presence of the swab cloth. The surface of the N97 gets easily greasy and filled with fingerprints, and the wipe cloth looks a useful thing when it comes to keeping your unit tidy and shiny.
